Placemaking Action Research

Commissioned by Arts Council England and delivered in partnership with Yorkshire Sculpture Park


2008 – 2010

An action research programme around Placemaking that aimed to build capacity and resilience within the (cultural) sector and its commissioners.

Dr Franco Bianchini (Leeds Met), Dr David Bell (School of Geography, University of Leeds) provided contextual case studies for the project. 14 Practitioners from various fields across urban regeneration eg. Planners, Councillors, Curators, Artists, and Architects were provided with bursaries to participate part in the action research programme as well as provide peer review, critique and exchange for each others projects.

This research provided a foundation for and fed into the development of Ways of Hearing.
