The project was to develop a cultural strategy for creatively engaging local residents in Oldam and Rochdale. As part of this programme artist Andy Abbott was commissioned to facilitate a series of participatory mapping events. MAAP also commissioned Lucy Barker and Roger Newton to work with local residents to create (shoot, edit and screen) short video documentaries about their neighbourhoods. These participatory film making sessions were successful in providing an informal creative space, that brought different members of the community together. They sparked a series of productive dialogues between residents about the place in which they live.
