An open air performance and sound piece commissioned as part of Architecture week. St Martin’s Bells; Culmination of the US sound artist Bill Fontana’s Fellowship in Eastside, Birmimgham
The project focused on a new composition for the bells of St Martin’s in the Bullring, Birmingham by the US sound artist, Bill Fontana. It built on the research undertaken by the artist in Eastside as part of his Visiting Research Fellowship with the University of Birmingham through BEAST (Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre). It culminated in a live performance, the production of a guided map of locations in Eastside from which the public could experience the work, and a series of site-specific recordings.
